Giffen Group Centenary

In 2009 Giffen Group celebrated 100 years of trading. To mark this momentous occasion, the Company organised various social events and a year-long campaign of fund raising for the Cancer Treatment and Research Trust (CTRT) based at Mount Vernon hospital. Subsequently, Giffen Group was able to present a cheque to Professor Rustin, of the CTRT, for £51,304.92.

Reflecting on the year’s activities, Jo Giffen commented that it had been an overwhelming success:

‘At the beginning of the year, I had no idea how much we could raise for the CTRT, and thought £20,000 would be a respectable total. To have raised in excess of £50,000 for such a worthy cause is fantastic! I am so pleased that it will be spent on making the facilities at Mount Vernon Hospital more pleasing for those undergoing treatment in combating their cancer.’

The money has been spent on landscaping and the creation of a garden for patients and their visitors to relax in while receiving various cancer-beating therapies.
